• Trey Songz: Gets ‘Up Close’ For Fans

    R&B heartthrob Trey Songz is giving his fans an ‘Up Close’ sampling of what he has to offer.

    On the heels of his first Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary R&B Album for his ‘Ready’ CD, comes a new EP ‘Up Close & Ready,’ which includes intimate live renditions of five of the Atlantic Records artist’s hit songs.

    Recorded at recorded live at New York City’s Clinton Studios earlier this year, the set also features a companion video for his new Bryan Michael Cox and Johnta Austn-produced single ‘One Love.’

    The EP is available exclusively on iTunes from now until Jan. 4 for a mere $7.99 and hits stores nationwide on Dec. 15.

    To promote the new project, the ‘I Invented Sext’ singer will appear on BET’s ‘106 & Park’ Dec. 11. Earlier in the week, he performed on BET’s ‘The Mo’Nique Show’ and before then on ABC’s ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live.’

  • Hot Copy: Nas Ordered To Shell Out More Money To Kelis

    Nas can’t seem to catch a break.

    Just last week, news spread that the platinum-selling rapper, whose real name is Nasir Olu Bin Dara Jones, had been arrested for DUI on Sept.10 in Stockbridge, GA. Now, comes news that the Queensbridge, New York bred MC was ordered by Judge David Cunningham III to increase his monthly child- and spousal-support payments to estranged wife Kelis and their infant son, Knight.

    After Kelis successfully proved she had difficulty earning money as a new mother and that Nas planned to release two new albums in 2010, the Los Angeles Superior Court judge determined he made enough money in recent months to pay additional support. nas Illmatic

    According to the Associated Press, his previous court-mandated $40,000 a month payments have now been bumped up to $51,101 – which will equal up to over $600,000 a year.

    His attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan expressed Nas’ approval of the decision given his client’s reprieve of paying the former couple’s Los Angeles residence.

    TMZ reported that the couple, who married four years ago, tried to reconcile in Sept. to no avail.

    As previously reported in BV Newswire, Kelis signed a deal with Interscope Records via Black Eyed Peas frontman’s Will.I.Am Music Group and is working on an as-yet-untitled new album

    Oprah Winfrey: Sharing Her Experience about The Obamas' First White House Christmas

    As previously reported by BV Newswire, media maven Oprah Winfrey will host the television special ‘Christmas at the White House: An Oprah Prime-time Special,’ which premieres Dec. 13 at 10 p.m. on ABC.

    Today, Harpo Productions released the first image of Winfrey and President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.

    Of the experience, the top-rated talk show personality shared the following thoughts:

    “From the very first day they moved into the White House, I started calling Robert Gibbs and asking not for the first interview because number one, I didn’t think I was going to get the first interview for the first 100 days, but I wanted an opportunity to sit down with them in a comfortable setting that all of America would be familiar and relate to. So I started asking when they first moved in to do a Christmas special because I wanted to be at the White House during Christmastime and to experience their first Christmas in the White House. So this has been in the making for a very, very long time.”

    “There are 27 trees and all the ornaments and all of the decorations, and we were able to go to the green room, where Thomas Jefferson used to have lunch, and apparently they’ve not let anybody film in there before. But I got to interview the president in the green room where Thomas Jefferson used to eat his lunch. So everywhere you move through this space, it’s filled with so much history. It’s pretty hard not to think about that as you’re walking through the halls.”

    “The president gave himself a grade. This was not about grilling the president; this was really about me wanting to come and experience Christmas at the White House, their first Christmas, with them. So I wasn’t here to grill him. I was curious as to what he thought he had done, what kind of job he thought he had done and ask him for his grade. You’ll see what the grade is. The grade might surprise you.”
